Default how long does a 92 EG tranny last?

Just curious. Thinking of getting another beater that's got a new engine and clutch. Body has 195k miles but new engine has 68k. Just wondering if I should lower the price more for the tranny that didnt get replaced.

That's like asking "how long will you live for?"

im not really understanding what your asking...but to answer your question i would say as long as you take care of it...it just depends on who drives it i guess.

good enough slo_hatch. not sure what engine he put in it. thought if he was going to do a swap he might as well swap the tranny as well. cant imagine a tranny lasting for more than 250.

transmissions are made up of many different parts. If driven nicely there is no reason why it can't last 300K or longer. Clutch is a big wear part and bearings inside the tranny are also. These parts are easily replaced though IMO.

As long as your transmission shifts fine now and doesn't make a crazy noise or something then keep the price where it is.

Next time just try to make your question a little more concise.

yeah if it doesnt grind or whine...keep the price where it is. i have a single cam si tranny that the 3rd and 4th gear synchros are bad in...they have been bad for about 9 months...i just dont have the money to replace them. so its still goin...just making noises. but if yours doesnt make noises or whine...keep it where it is. thats just my .02.

cool. thanks for the advice. the car has this: Honda has 195k, However a 1995 1.6 engine was put in it last year w/67k
New clutch, waterpump, rad, and batt, Timing belt Runs very well, never had any problems. A/C, Cruise, 5 spd $2100.

Was going to offer $1700.
