hi, im lookin to do an b series swap and im stuck on whether or not to choose between the two types of trans

in your opinion, which is the best to go with and what are the differences between the two?

any help would be greatly appreciated

 

well you basically have to go with one or the other...what kind of car do you have?

 

right now im rollin on a 95 EG Coupe all stock internals but im looking to do the swap with a b-series but can't really decide on which cuz of the trans types

 

you NEED a hydro...unless you convert it to a cable...which you might as well just guy a hydro tranny.

 

well i wanted to know as to why and how a hydro would work

i was thinkin that maybe id go with the hydro but id like to know what are the benefits to having one

EDIT: sry if i ask a lot of questions but i need to know these things cuz im doing most of the mods myself and i need all the info i can get since the faq on here doesn't really cover it all that much

 

the hydro tranny is supposed to give smoother shifts and dont break as often as the cable (i have heard of the cables breaking sometimes). and it works like a hydraulic jack i would think. lol

 

nice, i kinda had the same idea about cable trans breakin but i wasn't too sure about a hydro

Basically what it comes down to is that '91 and earlier civics and '93 and earlier integras use a cable operated clutch. '92 and newer civics and '94 and newer integras use a hydraulic operated clutch. It makes far more sense to use the type of transmission the chassis was originally equipped with so you don't get into having to buy a mount kit and an adapter kit.
