I have one on my bike and never figured out what its used for. Can a passenger actually sit on one of these or is it purely cosmetic? I ask because I don't have passenger pegs and never had a passenger sit on it to test it out. I imagine it would not be comfortable to sit on for long rides.

well then. a solo seat cowl, is just that, a solo seat for the bike. it's purely cosmetic and not designed for people to sit on.

 

The true purpose is to avoid people asking for rides everytime.

And to get people asking "Where do you carry your GF/wife/woman"?

............... or you could just remove the solo cowl, most cowls simply cover up the seat, it should still have the seat once you take it off

now if it doesnt have any pass. pegs, then that is what you will need to find

 

I'm currently looking for rear pegs, and the cowl that I have is a half cowl, half a seat and half cowl, nothing hidden underneath.

I don't take passengers that often so I bought a rear cowl to make the bike a bit more "clean" looking in my opinion.

it says in his sig he has a '05 R1, wouldnt that cowl be a replacement for the padded rear seat?

 

thanks bro, its a simple question that I had to ask, i mean why make a cowl that looks like a seat but is totally non-functional. Maybe other people out there are thinking the same thing and are too afraid to ask.

 

You are correct about the cowl being a replacement for the padded rear seat, but I have seen some covers for the actual seat itself.

 

seriously take pics. i don't understand this "half cowl" you speak of, or ones that "cover the actual seat".

sorry for the confusion, but yes that is the half cowl that I speak of, which is what i have on my bike. I was just answering one of the statements posted above about the hard shell cover for the rear seat.

 

if you're girl is a squirrel, you're good to go....That "1/2 seat" thing is designed to serve as a *** cusion when you're tucked down flat.
