Do import thieves EVER get caught?
No, I'm not talking about the scammers on-line that screw people over for parts. I'm talking about the scum of the earth that steal the cars. Everyday there is a new post on here that so-and-so got his hatch stolen.
After seeing a post where a set of back seats were left in the car, but slashed, it shows the extreme lack of respect these kinds of people have for others. Not only will they steal from you, but also ruin anything of value to you, no matter if it will help them out financially or not. I feel very fortunate that I live in an area of the world that is free from all the import theivery.
Does anyone have any success stories of theives getting what they deserve? Like doing time in a federal pound-me-in-the-*** prison or getting hit by a fully loaded semi while trying to break into a car?

Some get caught, but the majority do not. Did you ever see the post about the guy from the Rx-7 board that got caught for stealing his fellow board members car.
The thieves that stole my Accord a few years back got caught. I was very fortunate considering that I only have one way insurance. They were caught red-handed 4 hours later pushing it down the street in a ghetto *** neighborhood. I recovered everything that was lost, but unfortunately the damages were out of my expense.
Another time was I that caught them in the act of steeling my car(again). I ran after them with a Maglite and bashed their rear windshield...they never came back.

In my area, they caught a 16 year old in the act of stealing a stereo from a car. Police later found out that he was the guy who had been breaking into ppl's car in neighborhoods around the Dallas area for a while. He worked in a group and was said to be the leader. He admitted to breaking into a couple hundred cars total. What he said he would do is drive around neighboorhoods looking for easy targets, and coming back later that night with a partner. A few of my friends had their cars broken into at night (nice neighborhoods), don't know if it was exactly him but i am very satisfied that sum stupid crook finally got caught. I woulda liked to catch him myself though so I could give him a good *** beating. Word of advice, to ppl who park your cars outside, get an alarm. I know sum of u dont think it helps, but u will be able to hear the initial break in and jump outa bed to kick the persons ***.
i never slept very good knowing that my car might get broken into. specially with it sitting outside most nights. easiest fix. i got a pitbull and a 12 guage the first day i moved out. i sleep pretty well now. i think i will be sleepin a lil better though once my dogs aim gets better with the 12 guage.
my friend's 99 civic Si was stolen about a year ago. He got it back just the same because it was just taken for a joyride. Then a few months later it was stolen again, but by then he installed a Lojack and they found the car with some guy who was stealin local cars for parts to build his own race hatch. There was a lawsuit but i don't know what has happened since. I'll call up my friend and find out.

I used to have a 94 accord that i parked outside my house. One morning i woke up early to go to driving school and saw my trunk opened. All my stereo was gone plus all the other stuff i had in my trunk. That night I brought my deck face in that nite. After that i got another stereo....and an alarm wit motion sensor, etc. I was on the computer another nite right next to my drive way and heard 2 bangs outside and then my car alarm went off. Luckily my bat was right next to me and the muthafukers took off real fast. the only thing they got that time was 2 broken windows. Now my car is inside the garage.

ECU won't stop someone from stealing your car. If they want it the quickest way is to flatbed it. Nothing can stop a theif. Some things can slow them down though
My guess is if they were getting caught, then cars wouldn't be getting stolen.

You just can't have anything nice anymore. I painted my car to look like a 1982 ford escort, and i just take my rims, seats, ecu, valvecover, plug wires, stickshift, trunklid, sound system, and my rosary off where ever i go. Yeah I need a big *** bag, but my car looks like it's already been stripped.
Yes, they do. This just happened lastnight:
