yeah thats true........i have read some forum saying a usdm b18c1 can handle up to 400 hp with out sleeving but i rather sleeve it and be on the safe side im thinking of darton sleeve i shoped around i got a quote of $1200 would any one suggest me somethign else
the problem with the stock block isn't in the first week or two provided you don't go lean on the cast pistons. the problem is cylinder walk. the more HP you make the more stress is placed on the block and the inner liners will warp and end with a leaking head gasket. 18c motors do this across the board and are one of the major causes of these leaking headgasket threads people start. boost just adds to the problems. if you really want to make a ten second car you better have a bankroll and the first thing i would tell you to buy is the dart block. now you have a block that can handle serious hp and also more displacement.

golden eagle or erl or laskey racing are the only places I would ever send a block to for sleeving. 1200 is about right for sleeving a block if u send em a core, some places are a little cheaper, but any of those guys will set u up with a block that will take 800+hp

if you do sleeves they will cost a little less than the dart block and the post above me explains where to go.

Dart block. For the power you are after I would just get it sleeved though.

i ended up running darton wet deck sleeves, je 9:1 pistons, eagle rods w/arp 2000 studs, and an eagle 4130 crank. Stock bore and stroke. Brand new gs-r head with type r cams, aem cam gears, and a healthy bit of p&P work on the head.
why spend all the money boosting a motor that already has a 10.6 compression
you won't be able to push much boost without throwing a bearing, or walking your crank
your call, but i would def bore it out and use almost everything else stock

it is really up to you, i am merely suggesting if you don't have a lotttt of money to tune your c1 perfect, compression checks, boring, fully built bottom end, etc. you won't push much psi
if you want to do all that cool, even if not and boost it but you won't have much boost without walking your crank
i would suggest, skunk2 intake, itr throttlebody, fuel rail, stock injectors, msd ignition, headers full straight pipe, nice clutch, full gut, weight drop, and a shortthrow, not too expensive, worth it, and gets the job done

im down to walk my crank i abosouloutly need 500hp LoL .....ur sayng skunk 2 intake iz better then my stock one right?

If you have to ask the question you are not ready for a 500 horse car of any matter. I really hope you didnt do this to an Integra... Why would you put this as your homepage?! This has to be a joke.

What do you need to know? It seems kinda like your just ranting about how you need 500 hp. As far haking 500 hp yes the S2 IM is better than a stock GS-R IM... What I don't understand is how you "have" a decked out showcar, but have no clue as to how to build an engine...

First off, you don't have to worry about "walking your crank" as this person is claiming. Are you from the DSM world by chance?
Second, PSI doesn't mean ****. Pick the right size turbo for your goals, and push it to whatever PSI it takes to get there.
I'm done correcting his BS..
The need to sleeve at your power level is debatable, but personally I would sleeve for anything above 450whp. Golden Eagle is one of the most reputable places to go. 81.5mm-82mm bore is perfect for your setup. Run some type of forged piston, CP is my choice, Weisico is another great option. Run forged rods like Pauter, Eagle, etc. Rebuild everything else with OEM parts - oil pump, water pump, main and rod bearings, gaskets, seals, etc. As for headwork, if you have the money then get a standard port and polish, ITR or CTR cams work wonders for your goals. You can also look into Skunk2 cams. Run an Eddlebrock Intake Manifold. Don't forget a clutch to support your increased power level. And TUNE TUNE TUNE! Tunning is everything!

thank you very much....i do know how to build a motor i juz wanted 2 know whats good out there like brand wise now i can get started

Full race turbo kit $5,151
darton sleeved block $1,000
wesco pistons $535
egle rods $150
ACT Xtreme Sprung - $512
Driveshaft Shop axles $370
Koyo Radiator $401
AEM EMS - 1,500
Valve Springs and Retainers - $341
Thats not every thing you need, I didnt look for a boost solenoid, gaskets, full injectors, fuel rail, fuel PSR, GM map sensor and wheel studs because with 500 you will brake the stock ones. I didnt list EVERY thing but you will need more. All those parts are 9960 give or take a few hundred.

good luck on your build, I think the money would be better spent going to school.Modified by HondaKyle at 8:59 AM 11/13/2008
