Confusing, much like the MSD thing

17.10 line #1 A reprogramed ECU may be used in the standard housing

17.10 line #2 Electronic components may be installed in-line between the ECU
and engine sensors.

Try it out and see what happens, then the rule would get clarified...

As long as it doesn't replace your entire ECU, I thought any piggyback unit was fine.

The extrernal interface is not inline between sensors and ECU, so it is illegal. However, we had this discussion a few weeks ago in this forum - try a search. COntact Hondata - apparently some people have managed to package the interface into the ECU housing or remove it.

Slightly off the subject, not too much... I was just wonder if Hondata was legal in street prepared? Problems with changing VTEC points?

In Street Prepared, fuel and ignition are free, so the Hondata is ok. As are any of the other standalone ECUs (Motec, Electromotive, etc).

Does this include VTEC adjustment? Not sure about the "Mechanical equivalence" part... This car will, and already does, compete (not very well ) on a national level. So I'd like to be 100% certain on the vtec adjustment side of things. Thanks...

Full Stand Alones, including Hondata systems are illegal. This WAS clarified in Fastrack. Vtec controllers ARE allowed in STS.
