Prelude stock hood question...
My girlfriend just recently purchased a 1998 Prelude. I went to pop the hood and noticed a few things that I'm unsure about.
1. There are no stickers under the hood, like there usually are on Civics, Accords, etc.
2. The hood feels a little on the heavy side.
The reason I ask this is because on Civics for example, this would lead me to believe that the hood was replaced with an aftermarket unit, which of course means it was involved in a collision. Any light anyone can shed would greatly help her and myself out. Thanks guys!

usually if it doesnt have the honda sticker on it that tells the spark gap and other service things, it has been replaced... meaning it was probably in a collision at some point in time. take your VIN number and you can look up the vehicle's history, i think edmunds.com lets you look things up.
Ok, thanks for that answer. I had no other evidence for a accident. And the guy she got it from is a very honest guy, and he swore there were no accidents ever.
Well if it is the original hood it should have at least the VIN sticker on it. Just because it was replaced does not mean a collision however. I had to get mine replaced because a mechanic dented it.

most of the time if it's in a collison though they stil replace the stickers. i've got stcikers on my Predator hood b/c of that reason. it may have been replaced at the dealer before the guy even bought it (yes, they do that, no, they won't tell you)
