Default want to build 9 sec car

This winter I am building an ek and want 700+ hp. Just wanted to know what you guys have done. What are the strongest sleeves? I have a b20 block that I was thinking about sending in to make it a benson block. Maybe a differant block would be better for this goal. Turbo selection is also a good question. Was leaning toward gt40. One more thing, what about stroking a motor.

buying a 700+ hp car is 1/2 of what it will cost to build one...

you can buy a good car ready to run for about $20k

if you start from scratch to build your own you will spend $25-30k to build a competitive car

very well worth it to buy an existing project, either completely ready to run or at least with the majority of the work done

what setup could you possibly build that will be so different than what is out there?
the setups out there are already proven, no reason to try to reinvent the wheel

how do you all figure..??

Sleved bock, $ 800$
pistons $400$
Rods $300$
Turbo holset HX 50 $500$
Turbo manifold $600$
Injectors $300$
Head build $500$
Wastegate $350$
BOV $250$
Tune $600$

To cover my self mis $1000$

$5600$ total.. so lets say you suck at life and spend $8000$ that still semes to be cheaper than 20k car that some one else has beat on....

not saying it might not be cheaper to buy a race car, but realisticlay the 700hp mark is not that hard to obtain. and he never said that he wanted a track car. might want a road warior.

Just offering a difference in opinion.

^^^ First off half the **** you listed is wayyy under estimated.. Don't forget to account for shipping costs. That's only PART of the motor build you listed there. What about the rest of the car?! Some things you left out and I'm sure ppl can think of more:

- Fuel system
- Intercooler
- Charge Piping
- Valvetrain parts
- Bearings
- Machine Work
- Roll cage
- Parachute / mount
- Safety equipment (belts,nets,extuinguisher,etc..)
- Wheels/Slicks
- Suspension
- Plumbing
- Gauges
- Downpipe/Exhaust

The list goes on and on...

You are a complete retard and have never built a car I see. Ask anyone running 9's about your parts list and you better put your flame suit on.

you can build something simple and run a number, not everyone can afford a gazilion dollar build https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2300154 https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1924828 and there are many more builds like this busting out good numbers at the track the info is out there search search and this past weekend it proves that you dont need a 71mm turbo to go deep in the nines with a b https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2427782 and that setup is GE b18a
83mm cp
eagle rods

ls crank
stock head with itr cams
supertech valves
, springs, retainers,
nuekin manifold, upgrading over winter.
3" downpipe add tranny upgrades and a twin disk to your set up and hondata s200 or 300 and your not that far off

well i lol at all of your prices...

My build for next spring is going to be a 600+ hp build.

many of the costs i put down are costs i paid... so im not underestimatiing anything
You dont have to buy name brand new **** to make power...

Crank you can use a stock one, machine work if you put it together yourself might have to spend 400 or so..

Intercooler and piping 700 lmmfao.. a 3in Ebay jumbo cooler will do just fine, and that is 150$ and a piping kit is 95$ so ll say 250 for that...

engine managmetn 1000 to 4000 lol lol lol... ectune costs 750 at most if you dont have an ecu... you can even get hondata 3 for like 500... no need to buy crazy expensive ****..

axles you can run pepboys axles that are in your car. they have a life time waranty....
suspension, you dont need to do suspension work to make hp..
If you want to include that fine probly set it up fine for 850 1000

and as far as the mis stuff stated above, alot of people who are juming in to a 9sec build normaly have done a turbo build, if not you dont need to be driving s 9sec car.. point being that boost guage and other mis stupid **** like that most people have laying around.

flame suit my ***

i plan to make 600+ hp for under $5000

If i were you, i would just buy a car thats already ready to go..it will save you alot of money and headache. In your research, you will find that most of the 700+whp setups are just about the same. I am also doing a high horsepower setup and i got my car for $1800, i have about $17k in parts, and i have just about everything i need for the motor/turbo setup. I still need to have a cage done, buy slicks, have it tuned, hopefully get a paint job, and buy other misc. things that you normally think about buying right away. If i could go back, I'd just buy the car already done

Make sure you run a catch pan on these $5000 9 sec setups so we don't have a lot of down time at the events.

Lets see how many rounds you make on ebay junk. You are talking about buying busted up USED stuff. Go ahead and post up your build so we all can follow it. I would like some info on your first trip to the track.

LOL.

10 second setup are pretty easy to come by nowadays but a 9 second car is a totally different machine. A dependable and consistant 9 second car that is. Dont forget you gotta have a cage and a chute to run 9s so add a few thousand to your estimate.
