horn not working

Default horn not working

hey HT,

my horn stopped working suddenly, i have a 98 civic LX, its was working normally, then sometimes stopped and sometimes worked, i can here the relay clicking when i push the horn button, but no sound, is there a fuse or something or should i replace my horn?

First thing would be check the fuse....second, have someone check the wiring in the wheel, i had that problem with my 97 civic

I would also look at the horn itself. It may be a loose connection to it. Somehow the mysteries of stuff never messed with being unplugged never cease to amaze me.

If you have power to, check the grounds. Horn systems are a short to ground system, they have constant power, but the circuit is completed when you press the button that completes the ground

where is the horn ground? i can hear the relay clicks, i guess its the horn or bad wiring

'98s and up use the one pin system ('97 and earlier use the two pin). The ground is where the horn mounts to the chassis on the front of the car. If you don't have contact between the two, you will either have no horn or a very odd sounding, quiet horn.

Take the bumper off, unclip the horn, use a 12mm to remove the horn from the core support and make sure there is a clean contact between the two.

Thanks. I just replaced my horn with a better sounding one the other day and some of the coating on the horn shifted and broke my ground on the mounting point the same day that I posted back to you. All I had to do was take the horn back off, brush away the paint and mount it again.

What luck, right?

yeah right, i use Hella horn i bought of a 2003 c class benz from a scrap yard lol, nice sound for a 7$
