blwn head gasket if theres cooant in the cylanders you can also check the oil if its milky and grey blwn head gasket you can strip some parts off that motor befor you toss it save the vtec solinoid and sensors cus some of them wwill be nice to have layin around plus if you happen to get a JDM SIR B16 the vtec solinoid wont have a vtec pressure sensor so save the whole solinoid
If the motor has a blown head gasket, you do not toss it. you deck the head/block if needed and throw on a new head gasket with new head bolts.

exactly....
i blew up my z6 about 2 months ago. and im rebuilding it. re-decking bore and hone the block. put new NRP ZC pistons in at 75.5mm and the beast gained 20whp. with only $450...
im eventuialy going to put a H22 vtec in....

You could, but its still probably gonna burn oil from being overheated, rings tend to loose their spring tension, and if he got coolant in the bottom end he could be looking at premature bearing failure. Easier and cheaper IMO to replace it with a low mileage JDM D15B Vtec.
