Can anyone on here help with 1983 accord engine swap questions? need efi turbo!
OK, this isn't a post for me, but I need to find out for my friend if there is a relatively easy fuel injection engine swap for the 1983 carb accord. He was recently converted from the darkside and his best attempt at going imported netted him this car.......then he saw The Fast and the Furious, so now he wants turbo and NOS, not that I can argue with that. I have a shop that can build whatever motor he ends up using but I need to know what will fit. What about a 1st gen integra/zc motor? I guess the biggest question is regarding the motor mount configuration. Does anyone know what will fit? Any help would be great.
you will have to get the following
1. wiring harness for EUC
2. maybe some small civic engine or something that will fit in the engine compartment
3. a tranny
4. fuel pump
5. compatable instrument cluster
wayy too much work if you ask me

I am aware of all the things I will need, but who can do custom mounts? Does anyone have any idea of motors that have been swapped in?
you're talking about a first gen accord. I would venture to say that close to no one here knows anything specific about them. Yes this is the accord forum but then again that car is just about as old as I am. Sorry I couldn't help.
Contact people at JDMclub.com they know what they are talking about when it comes to swaps. If there's anything that can be done they may know.

but anyway, its way too much work to put that into an 83. tell your freind to save up his/her lunch money and get a newer accord.
Well, now Im even more charged about completing this swap. I'll keep those interested up to date on the progress.

I'm so tempted to delete this after seeing this comment.
John, who shakes his head in disbelief...

3rd gen is the earliest that is usually modified...and even they are rare. it's 4th gens that are modified the most.
but if you can get this project off the ground, that'll be cool...it's probably really light and would be a sleeper

Update:
I talked with Keith at Jackson Racing who has been working with Oscar since the early 80's. He said the best way to go would be to contact TriMill who used to make headers for these cars, Pierce Racing, who makes customs adapters to mount Weber down draft progressive carbs. Past that he suggested a custom grind cam and MSD ignition. With these mods done and the motor balanced, a 50 shot nos kit could top it off. This should net the 200 whp that he desires if its tuned properly.
