Default 1st Generation CR-V owners...

Hi everyone,

I've been on the forum for a while now, but never left the DC2 thread much. I just sold my 98 GS-R because I want a practical DD that can handle the winter. I love Honda, wont buy anything else. I like the 1st generation CR-V and it's right in my price range. I just want a practical car to last me some years while I am young and traveling alot. I researched integras for months before buying one, and it paid off. I'd like to do the same with the CR-V

Before I buy one, I'd like to be well informed about known issues I may run into. I know the timing belt needs to be replaced at 90k or so. Is there anything else I should be cautious about?

I'm hoping for a manual tranny, and would love a 99-01 for the extra HP. However I may settle for just about anything if the price is right.

every 1st gen cr-v should have had at least one timing belt done by now due to age.
They are great vehicles. I've taken mine all over the place. It does great in the sand, gets good gas mileage for a small SUV, has tons of storage space, and is reliable as every other Honda.

So is there anything I should worry about buying one of these? I guess buying an integra is a bit more of a risk.

Maintenance and wrecks. They really don't have any big issues at all. Just be sure to get a 98-01 model. It has more power.

they do have some issues. First is that the valve alignment needs to be done EVERY 30K, and if there is a weird noise when making a turn/ u-turn, replace the rear dif fluid. That is all for now. Oh and the clock always breaks.
