1998 civic hx/ls engine?
Hey guys whats up...i was thinking of buying an ls engine for my 98 civic hx and swap it, would this be a good idea? also if i did i would have to rebuild the ls engine, so any ideas on what i can do? can i put GSR cylinder headers on the ls? and what else can i do to it to make it more powerful? new pistons? Thnx in advance... kinda new to this

If you can afford to do the swap then yes it's a great idea. BTW it's only a great idea if your HX is a manual transmission version as the auto has completely different chassis welded mount location for the passenger side top tranny mount.

You'd only need to rebuild it if you buy one that needs to be rebuilt. you could buy one with a warranty from any number of online importers/salvage yards that can be dropped in with no rebuild required. Try http://www.hmotorsonline.com

You can but it won't make any more power than a header made for an LS engine, and it'd also screw up the primary oxygen sensor location since the GS-R header has no bung for an oxygen sensor, but the LS does.

The sky is the limit. How much do you want to spend? N/A build, VTEC head, turbo charger set-up, etc. etc. It's a really, really vague question. you need to ask yourself how muc money you want to spend, and what sort of goals do you have in terms of horsepower and reliability? Daily driver? Auto-X cone chaser? Weekend drag racer?
