Default LS tranny

so im looking to buy an LS cable tranny for my DA-T. They guy said all the foward gears work but reverse doesn't. He said something about the pin needs to be in there perfect or something.

Anyone knows what he's talking about?

I would first like to say to shoot for a GSR or type-r tranny if possible. The pin he's referring to is the dowel pin that holds the shift linkage to the shift rod on the transmission. If it's not tapped in flush enough to fit the clip over it, it's not in perfectly. Whoever would install a tranny like that is just lazy. Ask him if it goes into 5th gear...if it does, most likely it will go into reverse.

well if you're running turbo ls tranny will work good with the long gear ratios. but dude, ls cable trannys arent that expensive, just buy one thats in working order.

I understand the gear ratio difference. Whether you are turbo or not, the GSR and Type-R trannys have shorter gears which means faster acceleration in any given engine setup. Unless you can't, or don't want to, shift faster, get the GSR for "bang for your buck."

Dont spread false info, you are just making more people stupid. A itr or gsr tranny will out perform a ls tranny any day of the week, even on a turbo motor.

I would just keep looking untill you find a good condition LS tranny.

i know all about the differences in the trannys, but right now im building a car from ground up and buying LS tranny for $50 is just a starter to get it going. I will have a B16 tranny in the future, i promise that but it's hard to turn down a tranny to get it running for $50.

i just don't understand... i have a gsr, i have had both the gsr tranny and ls, and i hate that LS piece of crap and when i boost i will definately have my new gsr tranny on there. GSR tranny all the way!!! unless you have 900 wheel horsepower and your going for the world top speed record and need loooooooooooooonnngggggg gears, but i think your like the rest of us and just like going fast on the street/track.

Care to explain why you think an LS transmission is better for boost?

The only other pin I can think of is the dowel pins on the tranny that line up in the block to bolt it on flush.

throughout my experiences with people who've been boosted, they've liked their LS trannys while running boost. I PERSONALLY have never been boosted, so therefore i cannot say which one i like better. such as my friend who had an ef sedan with a b20 motor and b16 tranny, was racing a da w/ b20 and ls tranny, both good drivers. by the time he was shifting to like 5th gear the da was still pulling fourth and pulled on him. so iono. show me a vid of two cars w/ same set up one gsr tranny and one ls that are turboed. prove me wrong

I think you need to read up a little more and stop the bench racing before you get some innocent person killed. Maybe try getting an education, go to school or something. Obviously a tranny with longer gears is going to pull in the top end you act like that is prooving something. I dont need a video I could tell you right now that the gsr tranny will pull untill it tops out then the ls tranny will slowly creep in the end.

If you want to actually learn this stuff, instead of just bench racing to find out what is better here are some links:

no were not brothers he's just a dick who thinks he knows everything about life. IM giving my personal opinion, people i know who've been turboed, liked the longer gear ratios, so i figure maybe Op will too. If all comes down to what you like, you want short gear ratios, obviously LS isnt the way to go. Gsr tranny is shorter than ls, b16 tranny is shorter than both. Before i get someone killed, OP BE CAREFUL!!! USING AN LS TRANNY ON YOUR TURBOED CAR MIGHT END YOUR LIFE

You were obviously refering to street racing, even tho I could care less about your life (darwin will catch up sooner or later) I care for the innocent families that has to lose the life of a loved one because retards like you street race. Thats great that you have an opinion but with how you type and how dumb you sound, Im sure most people will take your opinion lightly.

I'm sure you and all your friends could love alot of things, but that doesn't change the gear ratios or the fact that a gsr tranny will outperform a ls tranny any day of the week.
