Kinda. Transmission type doesn't matter. A cable or hydro tranny can use either a cable or hydro intermediate shaft.
It boils down to which intermediate shaft is being used. If you're using a '90-'93 'Teg shaft (like me) you'll need '90-'93 'Teg axles.
If you're using a '94-'01 'Teg shaft (most likely) or a '94 -'97 Del Sol VTEC or '99 -'00 Civic Si shaft you can use axles from those cars.
'94-'01 'Teg intermediate shafts are male on the axle side and '90-'93 'Teg shafts are female.
Nope.

You sir are 100% correct. I was aware of what you are saying, but figured it would be simpler to go by transmission, seeing as how most people generally keep the intermediate shaft that goes with the tranny so they don't have to swap out the axle seal. But you are right, and some people do use a different intermediate shaft than the one intended for their transmission.

That $60 core change means once you bring back the old broken axle $30, or $60 if you bring back both old axles.

i just got one last question are the right and left side axles the same because im going to bring one back right now.</TD></TR></TABLE>
You'll have to check to see which one is which, should be written on the boxes they came in I assume. If they're '90 - '93 teg axles they are definately different from left to right, '94 - '01 i'm not sure about. I'd just wait till you're done though and make one trip, take in the new axle you aren't going to use and the old broken axle.

That is a good point (in bold) that I didn't mention. You would need to use input shaft seals for the specific axles/intermediate shaft being used.
I'm certain that you already knew all of that. You're very knowledgeable 94EG8

'94-01 are different from left side to right side one side has the male end that goes in the trans and the other has a female end that goes on the half shaft. Was fun getting mine off the half shaft when i replaced them.
