with that setup i have a few questions....

1.What would the redline be...?

i would highly suggest reading the FAQ's on this sight-
you are utterly clueless
but...
1 considering the fact that the factory redline is around 7200, i wouldnt rev higher then that
2 depends on cams/intake manifold/head flowing/ exhaust/ compression and a few other variables that you neglected to mention and or dont know what they mean

The redline and vtec will be dependent on what computer you use.

I wouldn't take it past 7200 unless you put some ARP Rod Bolts in it.. then i would take it to bout 8k or 8200..
The Vtec would be off of ur ECU if you're getting a chipped ecu for your car you can have it to where Vtec comes in where you want it.. I would do about 4800 on it..

The B20 block has a long stroke and doesn't like to rev high without upgrades. That's why they are saying 7200 rpm's. It depends on what computer you have, it will determine what the vehicle will actually revs to. If the computer allows you to go to 8200 rpms and the block will only handle 7200 rpm, it's up to you to let off the gas, or the motor will grenade. Research what rpm's people are taking the stock B20 up to, and what upgrades are needed to hit your target redline.

that is not true-
the b20 has the same stroke as a LS, and its only 2mm longer than a GSR

the reason why they dont like to rev high, is due to the rods not being engineered for it-
plenty of people are revving past 9,10k RPMS on ls bottom ends with the use of proper parts

I'll well aware of the stroke and capabilities of the B20. I think you need to re-read my post and understand the point I'm trying to get across.

I think I got your point- you were saying its due to the stroke that it doesnt like to rev high.

many facts can be true and untrue. dont let anyone tell u that b20 does not like high revs. ive seen plenty of b20 blocks stock running 8200 along side with b16 heads. it is rec. that u upgrade rod bolts due to the failure in the blocks are usually associated with the rod bolts. if it was me, i would rev the stock block to 8200 with a b16 head all day. some work some dont. some other ppl will tell u to upgrade ur oil pump as well. and as for vtec engagement if ur running a b16 computer itll be about 5600 rpm's. hope that helps

Where are you getting your 5600 RPM number from for vtec engagement?
I think it would be best if a tuner selects his engagement after running on hi and low cam, finding the intersection point.

And if you say "some work some don't" then why on earth would you run that in your car unless they work 100% of the time?

Best bet is to either call up a local salvage yard, or call up steve at HMOTORS-

So now you've heard multiple people admit that a B20 doesn't like to rev high.

I will re-emphasize my point. The computer tells the motor what to redline at, and when vtec is going to engage. As I tried to explain earlier, just because the computer tells the motor to do something, doesn't mean the motor is capable of doing it. Do your research on what the "stock" B20 bottom end is capable of reving to, and do what you feel is comfortable based on your research.
