Can I use a bolt instead on this stud?
I just needed a temporary fix because my cat is old and I want to replace it someday just not yet. Can I just use bolts instead of part #8?
And I also wondered about replacing part number 15 with a bolt as well but felt less inclined to it there.

my advice is that if it works, go ahead and use it.

the bolt will more than likely be a pain to get back out, but you could do it. i have replaced studs with bolts but it never ends up making anything easier.
