Dash Lights Out...Help!!
okay so my tail lights n dash lights have been out for awhile...fuses are good bulbs are good...when i got a new stereo installed the tail lights magically started to work again...but still no dash lights..any ideas plzzz
Is it possible that the stereo installer changed a blown fuse, since both of those items work off of the same fuse, but hooked up the un-needed radio illumination wire (orange?) which is tied into the dash lights, or didnt hook it up but it is slightly shorted (voltage drop) killing the dash lights but not totally shorted enough (dead short) to blow the fuse???
I could be wrong and there could be a seperate fuse for each of those systems, maybe I am thinking Toyota sharing that fuse, tail lamps???

As I understand it, the dash lamp circuit actually 'sees' two fuses.
The Tail lamp Fuse and a seperate Dash fuse.
Power is supplied to the tail lamp circuit thru the first fuse. a second fuse (dash) is powered off the output side of the first fuse (Tail Lamps), and supplies power to the dash lamp rheostat - which then powers the bulbs.
This started with domestic manufacturers as a warning system that a failure occured with the tail lamps. (Dash lamps went out).

I had this same problem 1 month ago. One night I was driving, went over a railroad track and my dash light stoped working. WTF?? Later I realized my tail lights were not working either. The Brake lights worked fine but the taillights did not.
So im snoopin around for a little bit, Had a blown fuse. not such a big deal. Replaced blown fuse, POP....... blew the fuse instantly. So now im looking for a pinched line on some sort. TRACING wires SUCKS!!!! lol. I finally found the problem, my corner lights had a small amount of water in them and the water had shorted out the wires and melted the plastic around the wire.
I doubt you have the same problem, but I would asume it is most deff a short somewhere. We prolly wont be able to help you much, its just something that you will have to trace. It could be anything. We really dont know what has been done to the car electrical wise, so its kind of a hit or miss. If I could get some hands on time with your car it wouldnt take but an hour or less to find the problem.
But if I were to say anything over the internet it would be a guess.
So....... my guess would be a dimmer switch, I think that has already been canceled out though. lol.

My dashboard lights, taillight & plate light are all off. I got another dimmer & the result is the same, i also checked the fuses & they are all good. I did my research on the internet & they said to take off the dimmer, then short out the Black & Red wires from the connector of the dimmer, but in my case that didn't work neither. I guess, there must be a short...but now where ?
When you say that you've checked all fuses, of course you mean both Inner (Cab) AND Outer (Engine Compartment) Fuse Boxes and with a test light. Correct?
You may have a problem with the multifunction light switch mounted on the steering colume (left).
What year Accord is this, anyway?

I took out all the fuses under the hood & also the the fuses of the fuse box inside the car on the left side of the driver left leg, i tested the continuity one by one with my multimeter & they all are good. I have a Honda Accors EX 1994. Please help me if you can.
