dumbest questions my cousin asked, but got me curious
So last night when i was driving home we saw a civic that looked very clean...
my cousin asks hey u know u have lowering springs on urs can u just add the coilover sleeves on urs and have them work like coilovers, it got me curious cuz i have a some cheap coilovers lying around and want to just slap the thread part on my springs...i told him hell no u cant but he insisted so here i am

if you add coilover sleeves, which the only purpose would be to make the car lower you should consider a few things. One, to do so you would need to compress the spring with a compressor and then adjust the sleeve. Two, doing this will make your rates very harsh and possiblly compromise the integrity of the spring....in otherwords dont do it.
if you put on adjustable sleeves and keep your stock springs.... your going to do nothing but LIFT THE CAR HIGHER.... stock springs are about 2-3times longer than most adjustable coilover springs....
unless you really want the 4X4 look!!!!!

like i said chop em sleeve em remember though dont cut too much off as the more you cut off, the more the spring will compress when you put weight on it

Yes as others have said trying to add coil over sleeves to standard lowering springs will not lower the car any at all.
First of all lowering springs are not flat on the bottom line coil-over springs, so the lowering springs would not even sit flat on the coil over perch.
Secondly as someone else already stated coil-over springs are shorter than standard lowering springs - much shorter.
If you tried to jam the perches in between the lower spring perch on the shock you'd likely never get the spring compressed enough to even do so.
Cliff notes:
Horrible idea
