What cracking? I see no mention of just gobbing body filler on it.
And really, anyone in the right mind knows you'd weld a piece of sheet metal first.
Also to be on topic, I think shaved door handles can look very good.

I would agree. The force of you pulling on the handle will create stress around the edges where there is normally a little bit of play.

Am I the one missing something here?
Is that picture suppose to be the finished project?

Its posted as if that is the final product.
I wouldn't call that "shaved handles", more like trimmed (the plastic handle trim looks to have been either been removed or blended into the body).
If you shave them, they shouldn't be there afterwards (at all).

del sol door handle is plastic where are you going to weld anything on it?
shaving door handles on this car involves only bodyfiller and fibreglass nothing more you can do.

where exactly did you put a piece of metal in there and what exactly is it reinforcing? i have shaved (remove trim line) over a dozen cars back in the days and there is no way of reinforcing or adding metal to make it more stable.

This isn't really a shaven door handle. Its molded. Like sideskirts or bumpers get molded onto the body. And just like those larger pieces get stress cracks and separations in the 'molded' areas, this will too. Its only a matter of time. Looks pretty good, though. I want to see it once its painted.

Uhh.. wat?
Yes, most all door handles are plastic, thats why you completely remove them,
and THEN weld in the metal plate to go in place.
That is after all, a "shaven" door handle.
Example of what you remove to fill in...

Not to be a downer, but I hope to hell you used a filer that will allow the door handle plastic, and door panel metal to expand and contract at the same rate, other wise when you have fluctuation in temperature, you could start to see a "ghost' outline of the original handle. The cracking that people are talking about it due to the heat and cold and expansion and contraction of the 2 dissimilar materials. It doesn't always happen, but it does happen a lot. You won't see it as much with a completely shaved handle, as you weld in a panel to replace the handle, so there's less concern
