Default Tach installation questions.

Red wire - Switches 12v on fuse box.
White wire - My Dash dim switch? (Correct?)
Black - GOOD ground!!!
Green - Blue wire on dizzy? (Which one would these be, I've done searches and it is the "Flat" blue wire on the drivers side?)

Need to make sure I have all my i's dotted and t's crossed before I install this, thanks in advanced.

Single blue wire in drivers side of the engine bay, it has a rubber cap over the plug.

Okay, would that be there even if my car doesn't have a stock tach?

How much longer can I extend the green wire to go under my hood? its about 1 1/2 ft right now. If I go to long with it wont I lose the signal going into my tach?

I've never run an aftermarket tach, always went OEM. But everyone I ever saw used about 5' or more of wire and those people never had a problem.
