hey i was just wondering what would be a good and better performance oil, gas, and spark plugs for my 96 honda civic cx? thanks in advance

and whhere can i find a good source to find about those kind stuff in the site ?

Don't use 93 octane unless your motor requires it. That is a waste of money, is not helping anything, and some even argue it hurts an engine to put a higher octane than what is required.

 

AMSOIL engine and transmission fluid, excellent quality and minimal burn/shifts like butter
87 octane gasoline
NGK, E3, denso, any QUALITY sparkplug and wire

 

+1 for "Don't use 93 Octane"! Theirs no sense in wasting your money putting premium gas through a stock d series that dousn't require it. I run 87 regular through my D16Y8 and get better gas mileage than running premium. Just go with some OE NGK plug wires, NGK V-power (or equal) plugs, Don't let someone talk you into getting Iridium or some bull that you don't need. You'll again just be wasting your money.

 

Use 87 octane. There is no reason to use 93 on a stock CX (or any other stock D-series).

I use Castrol GTX usually. Just recently went to synthetic last change though. Both work fine.

NGK V Power plugs are your stock plugs. You can get them at Autozone or pay more at Honda.

 

I agree with NOFX.

Use 87 octane. Running anything else will be pointless unless you're running turbo or high compression. Is specifically says in the owner's manual to use 85 or higher, but I'm not sure where you'd ever find 85 octane. lol

For oil you can go with what you were raised on basically. Some people were raised on Penzoil, some on Quaker State, etc. I used to use Castrol GTX 20W050 for the RX-7, but use Mobil 1 fully-synthetic 5W-30 for anything else. It's a good compromise between Royal Purple and a cheaper mineral-based oil like Mobil 1 Clean 5000.

For plugs definitely go with NGK's, and more specifically the V Power plugs. There's no need to purchase the Iridiums for your car when the V Powers will do the job and then some, especially when they're only 2 bucks a piece.
