Default my vtec hesistates. do i have a bad tune?

i have a 99 civic si and i bought it with a jdm b18c swapped in it already. it has a few internals such as high compression pistons and cams so the guy who had it before me said he had it tuned at a shop. the vtec doesnt crossover clean. it hesitates a few seconds and then starts to pull again. is there a problem with the tune or could it be something else?

yeah id buy a guage. I used autometer gauge in mine converts the mechanical signal to electrical so dont have to worry about an oil line cracking and what not inside the car. Being able to constantly see the oil pressure is a definete plus! Gauge only about 50 bucks well worth it and takes about 45- 1 1/2 to install at most!

Did it aways do that? Cuz i know that if ur oil level is low it will either hesitate or just not even engage.

I ran into the same problem with my Ls/VTEC it lagged when it reached the kick in spot so i couldn't find out what it was so i decided to take it back apart and then that's where i found the problem 2 of my intake valve stems were cracked due to off rounded lobes on the cam shaft causing my intake to stay closed for a few seconds before it was forced to open so i rebuilt the internals now it works just find ... Oil pressure will not cause excessive VTEC lag . So all in all my air speed was insufficient. That is what my problem was i hope it aint he same for you .

I had the same problem, then my oil pump took a ****. 4 chewed up main bearings isn't a pretty sight.
