Default 1998 ex y8 motor with a 95 ex tranny question

I just installed a 95 ex tranny onto my car and when i am moving and try to go above 5500 rpm it stops. why is that? Before i was able to go up to 7000 rpm. Is it because it is an older tranny? Anyone have any idea?

The transmission itself should have nothing to do with the engine's ability to rev over 5500rpm.

A problem with the distributor/wiring to the distributor would have the most impact on the engine not wanting to rev over a certain rpm. Perhaps you pinched some of the engine wiring hraness in between the engine block and transmission?

Can you better explain exactly what problem you're having?

ya i dont think its the tranny because i have a 92-95 EX tranny in my 97 civic and im able to go over 7,000. Did you do any motor work? if so you might want to look over everything.

yea it feels like its the rev limiter. This happened when i changed the tranny and i did nothing with the motor. Would it be the dizzy not line up properly or what?
