help with integra
hello. i recently ( 2 weeks ago ) bought a 1993 integra LS and it just rolled over 160k a few days ago. Me and my friend were driving it around and i noticed earlier that it like to sputter around 3000 rpm and up and would almost like to die out. ( not a good thing on the freeway lol) so i took it to my frends house and we decided that we were going to take a look at the spark plug wires and the plugs. Well when i took off the ( when your looking at the car, the second cylinder to the rightof the passenger) which is #2 i believe. Anyways i took the wire off and i couldnt even see the plug there was so much oil in the well. Plus when i pulled out the wire the little boot thing at the end broke off so its junk. So i was inspecting the other wires and they all have cracks in the plastic and i didnt think that was good. so i bought new wires and plugs and installed them and now it runs really good. But i do want to know what caused all that oil to get into the plug well. Either a bad valve cover gasket or something u think. Another question, how many seals does the engine have around the plug wells? Is it just the valve cover gasket and the head gasket or are there more. And also if i do have to replace the valve cover gasket, will that solve the oil in the plug well problem? Thanks Andrew Olson
With oil in the spark plug tubes it really sounds like that one of the o-rings on the valve cover leaking. When you purchase a new valve cover set it should come with the four o-rings.
