Default intermediate shaft...

I recently put new axles in my 01 type r and i keep smelling tranny fluid, once i jacked the car up i noticed there was tranny fluid leaking slowly from the intermediate shaft. Can i just get a new bearing or will i have to get a whole new shaft?

what makes you think it's something with the intermediate shaft as opposed to something with the tranny or maybe something's just not installed/fitted correctly?

The reason i think its the intermediate is because it's there's a liquid substance leaking from the shaft and i believe its tranny fluid. Do i need to take it back out and make sure the axle is installed correctly or is something wrong with the shaft?

There is no fluid in the intermediate shaft. If it is leaking in between the transmission and intermediate shaft, then replace your axle seal. If it is leaking in between the intermediate shaft and the axle, then you probably just spilled something on it, or it is getting dripped on by another source.

have fun replacing that seal. It is a pain to swap out when the motor is in the car.

Exactly. Get an oil change recently? Oil will leak down from the oil filter. Also check to make sure the black box is not leaking.
