DIY: jdm fog light wiring

please use this guide to wire your yellow fog lights on your jdm itr front end conversion. ive used other stickys for this project but they didnt make sense and are faulty. in my case my cruise control switch wont work, and i have a sunroof so i needed alternate power sourcing. if you have any questions feel free to pm me.

i posted this in the integra forum so that it would get some attention, and may be found in the lighting forum later.





parts list: from autozone

- 12 to 16 gauge wire
- 5 female spades
- 30A inline fuse
- 30A toggle switch

this should be very easy, and take no more than a half hour. im using a 98 integra LS as reference, with sunroof.


1) first, find the jdm headlight fog light wire coming out of the headlight harness. it should be an empty wire, red with a yellow stripe. run a wire from your passenger side (see pic for reference) to your driver side light, staying in series, and connecting it to your factory fog light wire.






2) next, find your existing factory fog light plug. mine was inside the outer wheel well cover, just pull it back and look inside with a flashlight. its a brown plug with a blue wire. i snipped the brown plug off and tied it in with the inline green wiring from the headlights. it might be easier to take the wheel off if you choose. if you dont find it there, then its probably in your engine bay, near the washer fluid somewhere or that side.







3) find the other end of the brown plug with blue wire in your car under the dash. its way above the dead pedal, tucked away. plug a female spade into it and run your wire about 10 inches with another female spade at the end.




4) next, find a good ground near or above the dead pedal and tie in another 10 inch piece of wire, with a female spade at the other end.

5) connect into your fuse box. reference the top row of the fuse box. the first 3 inputs are used by the sunroof, so those wont work. go to the fourth one, its a constant. tap a female spade into it with your 30A inline fuse, and add another female spade to the other side.





6) hook up your three connecting female spades to your toggle switch (ground, power from fuse box, signal to headlights), and your done! your fogs will now work with or without the headlights on. enjoy.




EDIT: try switching the yellow power wire and signal to headlights wires. the way shown in the pic may cause you to blow a fuse or two. im still running with this set up i just described with no problems.

My fogs all a sudden stopped working? Any ideas how to find out the problem its been all wired up and worked before i bought the car but it just stopped working today when i hit the switch on my dash board? Any help would be great thanks!

nice write up!! I actually used my cc switch and just hooked the power wire coming out of it to the power wire to fog lights, works beautiful and not much wiring needed, although this will work for ppl not running cc.

 

Not sure why we think this is a great guide. He took power, ran it to a switch, grounded the switch so a light would turn on, and then ran a power line to the fog lights. He was able to skip feeding a wire through the firewall by using OEM wiring that was already there.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.
