I just got done doing a B16B swap for a buddy of mine. He's got a 99 or 00 EX EK coupe and it had the oem d16y8 in it. Now I was able to use his stock SOHC EX harness on the B16B but when it came to the distributor, I noticed that the plug was a single 8 wire plug ONLY. When it's usually that same plug plus the second 2 wire plug (black with yellow stripe and solid blue) or 1 plug with all 9 wires together. Well I decided to repin his CTR dizzy (1 plug with all 9 wires) to match the harness.
When looking at both the CTR and the Y8 dizzy's side by side I noticed that the differences where that 2 wires were pin'd the same but just different colors and the solid blue wire was missing from the Y8 dizzy (single 8 wire plug)
So I continued to repin the Dizzy and just heat shrinked and left the blue wire out. I know that the solid blue wire is for a tach signal but if it's not there, where else is the factory tach getting the signal? If that's not where it usually gets it from then where does the solid blue wire signal usually go?
TIA and sorry for any confusion.
