What ATS Has To Say About My Broken ATS 4.929FD, and the Solution:
Sorry to start another topic but I'm sure there are others here who will not read the other thread again because they might think that they already know all there is to know about my situation with the broken ATS FD.
Anyways here's a link to that thread on how it broke:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=241350
This thread is not for how or broke, but how the U.S distributor for ATS plans on fixing the problem.
I spoke with Yasu Fukui from Racing Craft Inc. where I buy the ATS 4.929FDs from, and he said that ATS will claim no fault for the breakage and that there is no warranty whatsoever on this racing part.
I will not go into specifics, but Yasu extended an offer to help me out in my situation. All I can say is that is it not free. I will say that Yasu Fukui is THE nicest guy in this industry, and for him to offer some help even when the manufacturer says "togh luck" I think that speaks volumes about him and his company, Racing Craft Inc.
At this point I don't care what broke the FD. I am going to fix the tranny by buying all new bearings and seals again and I'll one-up the last build by buying a new case so there's no "case warpage" argument *if* the FD breaks again.
I guess the moral to this story is this:
Hondas are not drag cars - PERIOD.
I doubt I'll ever run my car down the strip again even though I'd like to claim 12 seconds and daily driven - I was at 13.3 at 1100ft. above sea level.
So for those of you with an ATS 4.929 FD I don't know what to tell you. The cause of breakage will never be known and while it's easiest just to blame it on me, you'd better reconsider bolting up slicks and making some passes down the strip "just for fun" because your fun could cost you dearly.

does racing craft inc. have a website or a phone number they can be reached at? seems like a pretty good shop to me.
yeah yasu is cool. he let me drive his car after about 2 minutes of talking to him. lol. he didn't even come with me
ATS lsd is siiick

Is that Yasu's site or ATS's? I have half a mind to write an email. Just seems like they should knwo this isn't going unnoticed.
Maybe you could offer to send it to ATS for analysis or something. You would think they'd want to learn about a product of theirs that failed so miserably, no matter HOW it did fail. Oh well...

It is ultimately not his call on how the matter should have been handled. I cannot expect him to GIVE me an ATS unit when ATS won't give him one to replenish the stock.
Trust me Yasu did the best that he could given this situation, so again I'll say that he is cool as hell in my book, and I'll just cross my fingers when the next ATS gets plopped in.
I have offered to send whoever the toothless ATS pinion shaft and 3/4 toothed ATS ring gear, but I was told it isn't necessary.
I guess there's nothing they can do to see why the teeth sheared off? I mean if the shaft had broken in 2 then maybe they could attribute shipping damages or something, but the teeth breaking off completely probably doesn't leave too much left to investigate.
I'm glad that Yasu was able to assist you...I do not know Yasu, nor have I done business with him, but if this is any indication on how his business practices are I would definately do business with him...but then again I don't need any ATS parts as I already have other parts on the way
Well Yasu also deals J's Racing stuff too, which is supposed to be hella nice hard to get JDM stuff for Honda and Acuras.

That's Yasu's number at Racing Craft, Inc.
If you feel compelled to cqll him then PLEASE make him understand that I gave NO specifics on how he's taking care of me. I assured him no monetary or service details would be divulged to anyone, so i don't want him to think i've gone blabbering to everyone on exactly what he did to help out.
All I'll say is that I'm a satisfied Racing Craft customer, and that Yasu Fukui is the coolest guy to deal with.

"Several times stronger than the stock w/special coating"
as stated on ats usa website. This is the reason I would not buy another ATS man.

someone bought out racingcraft.com when it expired and left Yasu down for a few days.
http://www.a-t-s-usa.com is the new URL. He is a great guy to deal with.

What is the URL for the Racing Craft site?
http://www.a-t-s-usa.com IS the site for racingcraft..... they are the US distributor for ATS products.
I think you are wrong to think the manufacturer will warrenty your FD.
You drive like a freking idiot...period.
You broke it, it's not their fault.
How many trannys have you broken?
Didn't you snap a shifter in two pieces?
I've said this to you many times, shifting HARD doesn't make you any faster.
DJ is the same way, he's broken 4 main shafts, why? He drives like an idiot and shifts too hard. He's mellowed out and still gets 12.8s.
It does suck to have a car that's down and no $$$ to fix it.
Suck it up and take some responsibility.
See ya at the TED.

Not fair is it?
Gald to see you guys listening to the rumor mills and basing arguments on them.
The "4 trannies broken" crap refers to 2 1992 Si trannies that were USED and already needed mainshaft bearings. This was before I knew what I was hearing and I still rode them out even though bearings should have fixed those problems. Ride any tranny in need of bearings and the synchros will **** on you, just like those 2 did. This was also back in 1997-1998 as well.
I drove my GS-R swap as hard or even HARDER then I've ever driven my ITR swap yet I had not one single problem with it.
Oh but it's just my driving, huh?
BULLSHIT.
I did in fact break 2 STR short shifters for which STR even claimed that they were "brittle" for some reason and they do not make those shifters anymore.
I won't accept a GOD DAMNED thing for a ******* part that lasts for less than 2 months when the stocker took more abuse in the first place.
And no you won't see me at the Ted. I'm ******* sick of you and Ken trying to paint me up as some God damned tranny destroyer.
**** that.

LOL
Whoa, tom =
It's a wear item.....
Turn around, cause I missed a spot when I was "painting....."
j/k
But seriously, lighten up. It sounds like all your problems are resolved.
So
I say beat the crap out of this one too... I know I am.
