I have stock si headlights that came with my car but had a nasty red tint eyelid paints on them, is there anywhere that i can just buy new lenses? i dont need the actual housing just the clear lense. i tried removing the the spray tint, its not happening lol

 

you are better off just replacing the whole assembly because you have to dry the glue that holds the housing to the lens. then you have to replace them and reglue them somehow. i have seen some that have been put back together with caulk.

I wonder if Meguiar's Clear Plastic Cleaner would work. They make a polish to use afterwards, they come in grayblue and white bottles accordingly. If not that then paint stripper or aircraft paint remover, just very very small dabs at a time should be safe.

 

You might be able to sand them off, but I'd just make sure you have another set of headlights before you do that.

You can replace your lenses, but there's nowhere to buy new lenses in the first place besides getting new headlights.

So you're better off just putting the headlights you buy on the car.

 

I don't understand your question.??? But if it is a eyelid that is painted and stock onto your car, then all you need is a heat gun and it will come out perfect, keep in mind don't put the heat gun to near the eyelid as it will burn the plastic. Then if you have to put the eyelid back on the headlight you have to take out the old tape off the back and use new 3-m double sided tape and place it back on the headlight... queit easy and I have done this before with my car, no problems.....

There is a look of my eyelids that was taken of my old headlights and place back on the new headlights..

 

Try brake cleaner and a green pad. It will eat the paint off, but shouldnt be too bad on the lens itself

 

dont use brake cleaner, it will eat the plastic. use a very light grit sandpaper and then go to town with meguiars plastix polish.

 

i didnt say soak it in brake cleaner.....

 

If the eyelid is paint that was applied onto the headlights then its simple just go with paint remover, it will not damage the headlight at all. You can then repolish the headlight if needed.

from what i see whats being said here is that there isnt a plastic eyelid on there...
but it is painted stait onto the glass lens... witch you can use just about any cleaner. my buddy had the same problem and so we used aircraft remover (just a little) and then wiped it off. and then we sanded the lenses so the looked like new

the lights arent made of glass.. its plastic. id just wet sand it and a lil finishing buff

 

ya i would definitely try wet sand and polish , then if not just get new headlights...
