Door Speakers
I have a set of Eclipse SP8964 point source 6.5 inch speakers. I want to install them in the doors. Will they fit with no problems ? Im worried that the back of the speaker is deeper and wont fit.

This is a common problem, if the speakers are deeper than stock the window will hit as it comes down.
So you might need to use spacers on the speaker mount screws and stand off the speaker cover from the door panel.

Very strange, I do not recognize the model number, SP8964 and can not find it at the Eclipse site including archives, the 6.5" point source speaker is the SP6510 and was the SP6500 and the only "authorized" Internet dealers are Crutchfield and Circuit City.
Should you be worried, if the manufacturers site does not list the model number, I would be.
Maybe they are not avalable in North America.

ok well i got it. I dremeled the back of the plastic speaker bracket off. And mounted the speakers into that. They are pretty close to the window when it goes down but they dont touch.
I mounted 6x9s in the rear using these bracket adaptors the problem im running into is that the speaker cover will not fit now, the speaker sits alittle higher than stock.

The rear factory location is 6x9s, and the factory holes all match up th the aftermarket 6x9, I'm not sure why you would need adapters? The only issue I have ran into is mounting depth, which is about 3", or you run into the trunk torsion bars, which can be cut slightly on the open end to allow proper fit. Try it w/o the adapter plates.
