slipping clutch?
most likely needs a new clutch. try to adjust the cable but i doubt that is your problem
the clutch itself, can not be adjusted.
take a look at your bell housing and see if you have a leak. might be your main seal or the input shaft seal leaking on your clutch causing it to slip

thats all correct. The only way your clutch cable could affect the situation is if it is preloading the pressure plate from being wound way too tight.
I agree that a new clutch is needed. For what it is worth, i run an ACT stage 1 clutch and i am really happy with it in my DD, and it holds like crazy for my lower power application.
