Default Car won't start!! help!!

this might be a simple question to all of you, but anyway, i just brought a 97 civic hatch dx and every time i turn my car off and let it sit there for a while and battery went dead, i've checked headlights and windshield wipers and everything that use power is OFF, i dont even have a radio in it, i'm thinking about it's the alternater but i'm not sure, i dont wanna have to take it to the shop and pay pros just to take a look at it(i'm flat broke, actually i'm saving up for a swap!!) so somebody help me out, thanks guys, btw, dont diss me if i'm in the wrong forum , thanks again.

battery died? as mentioned in my post by numerous other people... i just ended up feeling sheepish due to stupidity..... check your battery!!!!!! and if your alternator dies you have other symptoms too... maybe if you were able to post those then it might be easier for everyone else to help you........ but i think its the battery.......

A local auto parts store or garage can do a test for cheap or free. They'll hook something up to your battery and it will tell if the battery is dead again or if the alternator is toast. Good luck.

If you can jump the car just drive it there. They can do the test w/ the battery in the car.

it's a new battery.
That doesn't mean it's a good battery. I've bought a couple of batteries from Sears (yees, my fault, Diehards - DIE HARD!) and they have been **** right from the begining. I'd go with what others are saying and just take the battery to a parts store and have them check it out.

Good Luck!

Hmmm...this post is very similar to one up yesterday? Okay here it is...

Battery/Alternator test:

Start car. Remove battery. If car:

a. Dies, then its the alternator/voltage regulator.
b. Keeps running, then its the battery.

The battery is only a storage unit used to start the car and for power when the car is off. When the car is running the power is from the alternator, and if the alternator goes bad then it will run off the battery. And it is possible to have a "bad" new battery.
