Need HELP!!!! on tranny fluid change
First off i know this is a very novice type of up keep but i am NOT a mechanic.....i like to tweak and tune and build and all but wqhen it comes to the motor stuff i get a little nervous when doing things if i have not done them before or if i don't have some one to help me.
Just how do i change tranny fluid in an automatic accord (92 LX).........
i was told to run cheap stuff for a few hours (around town) then put good stuff to get the crap out.
Then i was also told to only run honda fluid in it.......
help please

Stick to Honda Fluids EXCLUSIVELY, at least as far as the Tranny is concerned.
You're going to have to locate two plugs on the transmission case.
One mounted low (Drain Point)
the
Second mounted about half way up (Fill Point)
Honda recommends draining and refilling three (3) times. A little redundant (I Know), but they suggest this since there's no way to drain ALL the fluid.
Another alternative is to find someone in your local area with a BG Trans Flush Machine. Depending on who you ask (and their personal preferences) they will either agree or disagree about flushing, but it is an alternative.

The drain plug has a square 3/8" hole in it...just perfect for using a 3/8" breaker bar.
Imagine that.
LOL
The automatic trans is refilled thru the dipstick hole; 3 quarts.

oh gosh... that's gonna get messy... unless you blow it on low pressure.

I work at a shop with multiple flush machines , Ive probably done 100 or more.
First thing: What is the milage? If the vehicle has more than 100,000 and the fluid looks old, i would not recommend a transmission flush, because we would not warranty it! Its also not recommended because friction/stress due to old fluid can wear the clutches. If you flush it chances are that it would cause problems.
If the fluid looks good, or you have service records showing that the fluid has been changed regulary go right on ahead, that would just be regular maintenence!
Then again i have had Honda's ( a 91 accord ) upwards of 330,000 miles come in with bad looking fluid and an original motor/transmission.
