Need complete clarification: What seats bolt directly into a 91 hatch?
Ok, so I've done a bunch of searching and this is what I have concluded about seat compatibility, mainly based on this thread.
Which seats fit into my 1991 Si?
88-89 hatch: NO
90-91 hatch: YES
88 CRX: NO
89-91 CRX: ??? (probably not, but one person in the other thread says he did it)
88-91 JDM hatch: NO (only fit in 88-89 US?)
88-91 JDM CRX: NO
INFORMED input is appreciated; armchair mechanics, please don't talk out of your ***. I'm looking for someone who knows the info for a fact, hopefully because you have the specific seats in question in your 90-91 hatch.
If worse comes to worse, I know I can just take my current seat apart and put any EF seat in there by reusing the seat pan and rails, but I'd rather get something that bolts in so I can sell my current seats

well i know that 88-89 and 90-91 is slightly different.. now rather its different between a hatch and crx im not real sure. just one thing im missing in this thread, what seats are you wanting to get (oem honda seats, sparco, recaro etc)? now just something i was told not long ago, 88-91 years seats will fit in all 4 years of the hatch but one of the rear bolts will have to be shimmed... im curious to see others inputs on this as well...

Sorry, I didn't make it 100% clear. I'm talking only about OEM 88-91 Honda seats and nothing else. Although if I could find the right rails for Recaro SRD/SRII's, I'd probably put one of those in

I know that the 90-91 civic seats will not fit into a 91 CRX because I had to do a pan swap to get the right rails. The CRX has a rail that runs on it's side instead of on it's base like your civic rails and they rails aren't interchangable so that's the reason for the pan swaps i've found

Has anyone put CRX or JDM EF seats in their 90-91??</TD></TR></TABLE>
yes, i have jdm ef9 front and back seats in my 91 si hatch and they fit fine, all i did was drill the bolt holes on the 2 front seats just a little bit bigger... i was also using 00 integ gsr front and back seats in my hatch as well.. they fit with just a little modding to the rails.

Do you have any pics? Which bolt holes did you have to modify? I'd like to know just how different EF9 bolt holes are from 90-91 US bolt holes...

Yes, it should be.
Keep in mind you're in Canada, and AFAIK like the JDM models, 88-91 have the same seats for you guys since you don't have door mounted seatbelts.

You are correct. I just installed 90-91 si seats in my 91 dx using one 91 seatpan and one 89 seatpan.

Pretty old thread to be bumping with something as lame as this...

Wow this thread is ancient. Just over a week old!!
I'm not laughing now......but I'm sure I'll feel that way when I make you help me do a pan swap
Yeah, disassembling seats...that is some fun right there.
