Hey guys, im gonna need to buy some tools for a swap, and for installing a bypass valve and aim cai, and exhuast, cat, i kneed a whole list of tools i kneed, from a basic philips to something wierd that im gonna need, i have absolutly no tools esides a flathead and philips(well its kinda flat now). Thank you guys, my plan is to have the tools i kneed to do just about change/modify anything in my car, thanks agian.
I second the craftsman. I have a set and they are good tools. Plus they come with a lifetime guarentee. If you ever bend, break, or damage them in anyway just go to Sears and exchange for a new one.
yo, the craftsman 200+ kit suggested above sounds like a good idea for routine maintenance. however, if you get into exhaust, engine, and especially suspension mods where you might run into a lot of frozen bolts, you might want to invest in an air compressor and some pneumatic tools (impact wrench, air hammer, etc). youll save yourself a lot of time and effort if you get the right tools ahead of time.

depending on what size compressor you get, youre looking at around $400 for the compressor and about a hundred or so for the impact wrench and sockets. sometimes sears runs a special in which the bundle the compresser together with some pneumatic tools for $379 or something like that. keep in mind, tools are an investment.

rule #1. dont buy cheap tools
rule #2. dont let people borrow your tools

a cheap tool will always break when you need it most, usually late on a sunday evening, long after all the stores are closed, your friends are asleep, and you HAVE to get to work early the next morning.consider yourself warned

You want to do a swap? Engine crane anyone?
engine drop crap needed: long breaker bar (pipe), quality jack, flat driveway, uh...the engine hoist...., latex gloves, loose nuts to plug rubber lines with, digi-cam to take pics before-during-after (so you don't forget ****), misc fluids (coolant, water, oil, tranny), 2nd that comment about penetrating oil (break-free is da shiet), whole lotta rags, wood blocks to cushion the jack underneath,
concise tool set: stubby phillips, long phillips, long standard screwdriver, 8-19mm sockets + small+med+large rackets + quality extensions, 8-19 mm open/closed ended wrenchs, maybe some flare-net wrenches for any p/s-a/c-brake lines (not sure if in the way 10mm,12mm,17mm), breaker bar, cresent wrench, engine hoist, jack, masking tape (to label what went to what). Get craftsman screwdrivers and rachet extensions at least - def. worth it. All this stuff (excluding the jacks/hoist) shouldn't be more than about $70 bucks. I'm probably forgeting lots of little stuff.
Those three screwdrivers will be the most valuble tools you'll ever own...get the sears stuff!

My Craftsman came with a 5/8s spark plug socket which i think is a standard size. It does not however have the extensions you'll need ot reach the plugs on my cars. Pick up a 10" extention while your at it.
