I've heard that 7lbs is too light... so I was just wondering...

Some people like light flywheels, some people like slightly heaver ones. There are pros and cons with both. Lighter flywheels help the engine rev quicker (less rotating mass), heavier ones feel more comfortable when driving around town (in my opinion). If you have a chance to drive another car with a light height flywheel, do so. So you can make you own opinion.

i say there is no disadvantage...just takes some getting used to on your part. it's similar to light rims. i would go 7 lb or even lighter if i could

I have an 8lb on my ef DD, and i don't have any complaints. it revs much faster. The only downside is that i think i tend to grind second upshifting sometimes because my revs drop too quick. The jury is out on whether that is the cause though, i have some suspicion that the gear cone in second is too far out of tolerance, which may be the real culprit. In a couple months, we will see.

I have the 12lb ACT streetlite flywheel and its pretty much a good compromise for daily drivability and quicker revs. You have to remember that if you drive in traffic or any kind of stop and go driving that a lighter flywheel will lose revs Very fast and requires quicker shifting.

Daily driving will get very tiresome with such a light flywheel because you pretty much have to be in "quick shifting racer mode", all day. If this is strictly a race car which I assume because of the ITB's then a lighter flywheel would be a very good add-on to your set-up.

instead of shifting quick, i sometimes just give it a quick rev before putting it into the next gear. the little sacrifices is worth it.
