First, let me just say this: Torque is what makes acceleration, not horsepower...And horsepower makes torque...That being said, when considering the power gains of a potential build, the foot-pounds per horsepower ratio of the engine becomes important if you are looking for all-out acceleration - F22A4 has 1.09lbs/ft for every 1 horsepower while H22A has 0.75lbs/ft for every 1 horsepower. A bone stock H22A Prelude is at best mid 15's in the quarter, and you shouldn't expect anything better when swapping an H22A into an Accord. Spending the same amount of money building the F22A4 will yield 200hp 218lbs/ft at the wheels while H22A yields 200hp 150lbs/ft at the flywheel. Mid 15's with an H22A swap or high 14's from a built and tuned F22A4 for the same amount of money...You guys are smart...Figure it out for yourselves.

Yeah I think I remember being involved in a thread about the cost per power between an H22 swap vs a fresh purpose built F22. I got laughed at when I showed a parts list that you could put into the F22 for the same price as buying a bone stock H22A.... Kids will be kids and they can keep swapping in all the H's they want too.

I like working on my SOHC F series. Even more so now that Bisi has a few different dyno/track tested grinds out there for them. No need for DOHC when you have a purpose built SOHC.

 

I'm looking at this full setup for my F22A4: Bisimoto Race-Spec 12:1 compression pistons, Level 2 Cam Regrind, F22A6 Cylinder Head with Full Race Headwork, a ported and polished H23A1 intake manifold, bisimoto performance header, cat-back exhaust with magnaflo high-flow cat, the largest TB that will fit on the H23A1 mani and a cold-air intake.

The right build with the right tune, and I could see 200whp 218wtq and 14.8 in the quarter (Stock Prelude is 15.1) and it would cost about $3,700 in parts if I did the work myself then had it pro tuned (pro tune where I live is around $280 for a full dyno and street tune with a/f and that's at $70/hour labor).

Edit: This setup is great for all-motor or Nitrous...

In response to the OP on the topic...I have a H22 swapped Accord that runs 14.5s in the 1/4 with slight traction issues. My H22 swap has your run of the mill I/H/E set-up and makes 200whp. I feel that you shouldn't knock the H swap because it is capable of power and there is room for more. The H motor is for more of an all-motor build, while the F motor is a good turbo motor.
