What settings for KYB AGX shocks??
Hey guys, i just installed a set of KYB AGX 4 way adjustable gas shocks on my 92' civic hatch. I know they arent the best, but i got them SUPER cheap through a friend. Im running on street tires, and the cars weight is pretty close to stock, not gutted out. Anyways, Ill be going back to the drag strip within the week, and im wondering what the best way to tune these is? How do you guys set yours?
Ive heard from one friend to make it as stiff as possible in the rear, and soft as possible up front. He's got a civic hatch running mid 11's.
Iv also heard in a magazine i think it was that you should have them all stiff.
And i heard somewhere else, that you should keep it soft all the way around.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated to help lead me in the right direction for tuning. Atleast maybe a good starting point.
I would think that the most logical would be to set it up soft up front as possible and stiff as possible in the rear.
thanks,
ERIK

my friend runs these in the back of his 92 hatch, on the street runs them at setting 1, and at the strip runs them at setting 4. i've watched the rear of his car many times at the strip and it barely squats at all. the car runs 12.96 @ 103mph, stock shocks in front...well HTH
The fronts aren't really an issue, if you aren't wheel-hoping. You don't want super-stiff, but you don't want soft as hell either.
Basically for the front, you wanna nail down these key areas:
Bushings
Traction Arms
Proper Alignment
For the Rears, set yer AGX to full stiff and get a real spring back there.

what springs would you recommend? Would i be able to run those on the street all the time, to keep me from having to swap out every time i go to and from the strip?
Ive got a set of z10 radius rods, and I will be aligning my car within the week. But what bushings would you recommend for the front suspension(not a brand, which actual bushing location do i replace)?
thanks for your help guys!!

I have Comptech Springs and the KYB's on my GS-R. For regular around town driving I have them on 2. When at the track 1/4 I have them on 4 in the back and 3 in the front. I haven't had any problems w/ it....just go and mess w/ them till you notice where you like them.
I put my rears on 4 and the fronts on 3 at the track. I have Skunk2 450# springs in the rear, and Eibach ERS 800# springs in the rear. On the 4 setting, the rear of my car is pretty stiff. On the drive home, I put the struts on 2, but sometimes I forget to change the settings and leave them on stiff. Talk about bruised kidneys on the way home.

I have the same question, except I have an H22 CX hatch with ground control coilovers and KYB AGX.
I know I want the back hard, but is there a real answer for the front, whether it be soft or hard?
