90 integra gs i need help replacing the altinator im stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can anyone give me step by step instructiopns on how to change the altinator in my frinds 90 teggy. how hard is it can the same belt be used or should a new belty b put on
If your car still has PS and AC you will need to remove those belts first in order to be able to remove your alternator belt. If you do not want to change the belt (do it or you'll regret it later), you could skip this step. Next unplug the alternator plug, and remove the wire that is bolted to the alternator as well (usually a 10 mm nut). Then two bolts need to be loosened which allows the alternator to move towards the front of the car, which in turn loosens the belt. After the belt is off, remove the two bolts that you loosened to take the belt off completely. It may have to come out the bottom...I do all of my work on a lift, so thats not a big deal for me...Also it would be foolish to replace your alternator, and not replace the belt while you are at it. Good luck!

ok some steps were missed here, i have had mine out 4 times i have a pretty good idea on what to do. all the above is correct, BUT it will not just fall out. you have to remove the three bolts that hold the intermediate shaft on and flip that bracket down(yes it will flip down just gotta push past the cover for the power steering rack), then you must slide the whole axle and shaft over to the right about 2 inches. There is enough play in the cv shaft to allow for this.
Then it will come out, you might have to turn it some and wiggle it out but it will come trust me.

HELL yes, I had a few sparks fly the last time I replaced mine because I forgot to do that.

Yea, my friend and I both got shocked (I was under the car trying to wiggle the alt out) first time I ever did an alt (circa 2002)
