which is the best cat-back for a stock Ls
I have the tanabe hyper medallion and I love it. Nice and throaty at wot and not very loud at idle--good for not attracting the cops.

You could get an ES oval universal muffler with the 2.5" opening and go to a good, local muffler shop and have them do some custom 2.5" mandrel bent piping.

the brand does NOT matter... the size of the piping is the only important factor to take into account. You should buy an exhaust with 2.25" piping if you do not plan to do any other mods besides i/h/e (/c) your piping size is dependent on the amount of horsepower you are able to push... anything less than 200 is 2.25" piping. And a stock car w/ ONLY cat back exhaust won't really have any significant gains... the most significant gains come from the intake portion of that combo imho, it's also the cheapest if you are looking to buy the whole combo and want a buy order. If you just want noise and don't plan on doing performance buy a universal muffler and have it welded on.
Well I just got my Apex N1 and it is nice took some getting use to but, sounds great and looks great. As for performance I feel a little bit more pull on mid-range but for all I know it is a psychological thing. But N1 is a

apexi WS... quiet, looks nice, flows better than stock, and reasonably priced.

i have a ls. if you want a stock look with good sound, and good mid-range to high end power. Go with the Apexi World Sport Exhaust. i have that one and let me tell you, nobody can hear my car coming unless im over 6,000 rpm. it looks stock and it's loud when you want it to be, quiet when you want it to be. ( like when your riding past the cops)
I'm getting an RS*R for my sstock 95 LS. No this is not one of those Invidia systems, this is the real deal. I've heard great stuff about them....I think the small gains I'll get witll be in the mid-rpm range. I'll put up once I get it put on..BTW..I got it new for $360 shipped!
