Default My Eg Body & Paint Thread

Ok well i had this thing sitting in my driveway for like 4 months...

sooooo its time to do some body and paint work on it!

Only worked on it for about 4 hours today so this is what ive got done...

Ok well thats pretty much it for today...ill be doning the drivers side friday...

ok soo work started at 11 today (sat) and this is what i got done...

Finished all the body work , which was my goal for today..

--Id say the hood had some issues--

--after about 2 hours of sanding its smooth!--

--Some dints and dings on the drivers door takin care of--

--Back veiw--

--whole car is pretty much sanded and smooth--

--only one dint on the tailgate--

--Thats all--

ok ill be priming the drivers side, tailgate, and hood tom so more pics up then...

ohh and i picked out the color and bought all the paint so the doorjambs and undersides will be getting sprayed soon!

thanks for looking!

Ok sooo i wanted to see how this color was going to look so i went ahead and sprayed the fenders...

--These are the many diffrent shades this color is...ill get some pics in the sun tom---

the color is just some random pick but i had them blend alittle diffrent mix into it...

Damn that looks good! After you spray the primer what grit sandpaper did you use before you color sprayed? Did you wet sand after you clear coated?

Good Job! nice color too...

You make it look sooo easy! Looks great. It's an inspiration to all diy'ers. Can't wait to see the final product.

As far as sanding the primer i use 320 (blocked) then go back over it with 800 lightly using my DA so get and "pattern" scratches out...

ive use 320 on a DA on this truck i painted black and still looked like glass so its all up too you really...

And as far as the fender pics i have posted that was right after i sprayed them so no they were not wetsanded yet...

thanks

Just to clarify; you used a DA to sand the primer before the first coat of paint? I always thought you should block sand. THe reason I ask is because I'm working on my EK.

yes thats how i do it...i have a 6" backing pad for my DA so thats why i said i go over it lightly just to get out any of the blocking patterns from the other grits before...i dont go over the bodywork areas too much if thats what your asking, so i keep it smooth...
