Default Help With Replacing the Distributor on D15B

I think I killed my distributor... I was working in there and didn't unplug the battery and arced something and now the car isn't starting.

I have another distributor I want to put on and try, and looking at my chiltons book it says you have to turn the engine over until the #1 piston is at TDC of the compression stroke.

Does that have to be done? How would I know if I am at TDC of the compression or the exhaust stroke?

Help plz.

if you arced something, check your main battery fuse before you do anything make sure its still good.

Is that the 50A fuse in the box under the hood? If so I checked all my fuses under the hood and under the dash and all were good.

I also replaced the coil with one I had laying around, and took the igniter to O'Reilly and it tested good, but I got another igniter just to make sure, and that didn't solve it either.

Car just cranks but makes no attempt to start. What happened was I was using a small screwdriver to remove the old distributor cap gasket from inside the grooves on the distributor and near the top where the two wires go into the distributor I had a small arc occur. Ever since then it won't start.

I am thinking I might have fried something internally in the distributor itself? Sator or crank sensor? I don't know if they are electronic or not I'm not too familiar with distributors.
