Default the best headers?

Im getting some exhaust headers for my accord, but theres a lot of different brands. i.e. pace setter, spyder, DC, etc. I see alot of different bends some of them take and look a lot differnt. I was wondering which do u think will give me the best gains? and as for materials how is chrome as compared to ceramic coated or stainless?

Pick the set with the largest collector. I would have said DC sport, but I don't like the collector - too small. Of all that I've looked at, they all looked restrictive.

Man that is old. Yes if the OPs car is a 4 cylinder then there is only one header, singular. This is the second header thread that you have contributed nothing to but asking were the second header is going to go......

OP, here is a link with a little bit of reading to help you learn more about what different setups and materials do for gains in certain areas. There are 5 pages to the thread all of them very informative.

You want the ones with the most flow... But when ppl pay hundreds for DC your just buyin the name. You could purchase a nice pair for 100-150.
Also I would prolly go with ceramic, seems to do better with heat. E-bay does have some for not to bad. And they work well so check them out there.

Be careful when you do buy the ebay brands though. I know several people who've had their generic, megan, and obx header crack, which is obviously not something you wanna deal with. Not saying that all cheap headers are crap, but some are.

I have found these thru Summit racing:
http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku

The only set I've found since you started this thread with a collector larger than 2.0 inches. This one has a collector size of 2.5 inches. it will certainly flow better than most of the others.

Good find, the 2.5in collector is nice. You cant really go wrong with "summit"
either.

For the price I don't think choosing a Dynomax product would be a bad choice ether. Yeah there name is synonymous mainly with North American Muscle. But if it performs and lasts on a muscle car I'm sure it will last on an import.

topic has been covered time and time again. searching will give you all the results discussed already. this is one of those argumentive topics. it boils down to what your intents are. na all out build, oem replacement or temp header. if you need a temp, ebay is fine. if you are doing an all out build, epect to pay more than 600-1200 for a header that actually gets you gains.

I'm just having fun sorry but the reason I put stupid posts in these threads is because these people should lean to search for more info before asking about pace setter and DC sport "headers".
but anyways

my posts may get deleted but the problem isn't my post it's the thread. thanks.

my megan racing header made a bigger difference on my f23 than a dc header did on my brothers f22 ... when buying dc you really just pay for perfect oem replacement fitment and for C.A.R.B. Legality ... i had to drill my megans to bolt up to my cat ... and the gaskets it came with blow ... literally ... you get what you pay for to a certain extent i guess

get a collector that suits whatever size piping setup your going to use ... personally 2.5 is the biggest you should go ... but remember backpressure is critical for that low to mid end power

The primary tube size is a determinant factor as to where the powerband sets up, but the collector only comes into the equation most times as a choke point (flow restriction).
You want as clean a transition as possible to the exhaust system. With the header set I reccomended, the restrictive party becomes the Catalytic Converter. The industry is repleat with 2.5" exhaust systems.....

i thought the length of the runners determined the powerband when dealing with high/mid/low end power ... of course if the collector is restrictive its bound to choke ... i mean each headers manufacture has already matched their runners to their collector to achieve the best performance possible ... so unless you custom fab one theres nothing to really do except run a high flow cat and exhaust system all of which should be the same size from the collector all the way to the exhaust right? ... im still new to all this so hopefully you can point me in the right direction lol

In reality, a lot of manufacturers match their collector dimensions to what they consider to be the next likeliest component, a stock Converter. In most all cases, the primary tubes match the cross-sectional area of the exhaust port, the primary tube length determines power band location from sonic pulse reversion theory.
IE:
Long primary pipes - torque
Short pipes - rpm

Sounds suspiciously like Intake theory, doesn't it?

The impoertant point of all this: a smooth transition from the primary tubes to the collector to the converter.

I hate to dig this one up from the very depths, but didnt feel like starting a new thread just for this very same issue..

Does anyone have experience with the Dynomax header that P.Adams posted? If it really is a 2.5" collector for that price and clears all the stock ac lines etc then it seems like a deal. I am currently running a DC 4-2-1 but the underside is pretty badly scraped and dented and I think the movement from 2" collector to 2.36" ApexI WS2 is causing me extra raspiness..

Would it be possible to spray on ceramic coat this header or will you quicker recommend header wrapping it? I already have problems with heat soak in the engine bay and really don't need any more..

---
As an alternative, do you know anywhere that sells the lower half of a two piece header , with a 2.5" collector? I know that I can mod my DC to suit but seeing as the bottom half is already beat up I was wondering if I can source this separately (but from a brand with 2.5" collector)

Thanks
