Ever heard a silent Walbro 255?
I am just curious to know if you guys have ever heard a Walbro 255 pump that makes absolutely no noise at all. I was used to hearing all of my Walbros making a whining noise but not the one im currently using. I mean, im getting fuel, not running lean so i guess its working just fine. Maybe new Walbros are quieter? lol.
Out of 3 Walbros, all 3 were so very annoying with the whine. So, my answer is no.
Your wideband will tell you if there is a problem with it. Maybe they are making them quieter now.

Sweet yeah thats weird. On my last 2 setups they both had a pretty loud whine to them. During priming yes i hear it, but thats it. I guess they make em quieter now.
I couldnt hear mine much when its power source was the stock wire. Once I added a second 255 and added relays and 10ga wire those puppies really woke up, I hear them idleing and cruising without a problem. As long as your AFR's are good and your fuel pressure does what its supposed to do you should be ok.

i cant wait to do this to my car. not to thread jack but what power level are you at and why did you do the dual pumps? also injector/mgmt setup? you dont have to if ya dont want but im very curious and am going to be investing soon in a dual setup
My experience with noisy pumps has been insulation. My first had no insulation (around the motor) and was thus quite "resonant". My last setups have had a rubber type material, kind of foamy if you will and its significantly more quiet during priming, i have never had a noise problem idling/driving
Crummy pumps that are about to let loose would make funny noises i'd imagine
Why not investigate? Hopefully it makes it to the next time you're running lower on gas, then check it out.
srry for the novel, bored...

my friend bought a used walbro a while back from a guy i know, and when it was new it whined and it whined in his car. Well we replaced it with a brand new walbro 255 trying to trouble shoot some **** and it wasn't any louder than a damn stock pump and we tuned on it at 400hp so it worked. Maybe its a design change.

Car is currently almost 600whp at 23psi, I run E85 so I needed the extra flow for my power goals, Injectors are RC 1000's through Neptune RTP. I do not run the Full Blown setup just an in-tank and an inline with -8 feed and the stock feed converted to the return, works well
I am also ditching the 1000's for 1200's and the inline 255hp for a Bosch 044 in the spring, looking for 700whp+ on gas.

some are noisy some are not.
i'd say about 3 out of 20 makes an irritatiing whining sould. but if engine is running already, you wont hear it. and if the back seat are there and all...

Mines the same, here it prime before start up but when car is running I don't hear it. But I do have full interior in the back. I'm running the 255 High Pressure too, n/a or on spray pump always sounds quiet since I've installed it like 2 yrs ago
I put one in a GSX a couple of months ago. Went to prime up everything to make sure there were no leaks, turned the key... nothing. WTF? Pulled everything apart again, tugged at the feed line a little bit and there was definitely a good deal of fuel in the line.
So I said [freak]it, I'll turn the car on. What do you know, car started right up, couldn't hear the pump at all.
Strange, but that's the only one I've never been able to hear, and I've seen a LOT of 255s.

I don't have a 255, but a 190. I discovered it in there when I went to throw a GSR pump in. I hear it priming, but just a faint whine like a loaded alternator all other times. With road noise I can't hear it.
You should check how its mounted. Your rubber mounts may be hardened with time, and can x-mit the vibrations.
FYI there have been some clones sold, and those would most likely whine profusely. I recall the thread on Bosch pump clones...
