ive heard that too but i have done it and did not have a problem.. i think the main concern is leaving the axles out to long and having moisture and what not get in there.
you should be fine

The issue is not having preload on the bearings. When the axle is in place and the axle nut is tightened to factory spec 132 ft-lbs, it preloads the wheel bearing.
To be safe I would get some bolts with the same thread pitch and size as the axle ends, and stick that through the wheel bearings with a large, thick washer on the back side, similar to how the rear hubs have a bolt/washer with nut to put preload on the wheel bearings.

Find a set of worn/broken axles that won't be reused (D series axles will work fine). Remove the shafts from the outer CV joints and clean the outer sections. Any time you need to move the vehicle without axles, just slide these in and torque to spec.

Yeah Dave Dunn's mid-engine H22 Integra build thread showed putting bolts through the front hubs since there were no axles up there anymore, but I can't find the page at the moment where he explained more in-depth about doing that.

The Best Suggestion.
I would do that for any long periods of pulling the vehicle.
