Default Can a car without axles harm the wheel bearings???

I heard that putting your car back on the ground without the axles installed will harm your wheel bearings. Is this true. My friend has been rolling his car around without a motor, tranny, or axles. Could he have damaged anything. I personally don't see how so could someone please enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

the axles and nut is what keeps the bearings from seperating. As long as you roll the car straight forward/backward, not to big of a issue. But start turning it around and what not, they will come apart.
