A few weeks ago my brakes started squeaking so I thought it was finally time to change the brake pads out, but I was extremely strapped for cash at the time so I thought it would be okay to ride like that for awhile until I had enough money to spare. Three weeks later the squeaking was getting pretty bad, and then suddenly it just started dying out and stopped completely. So I was wondering if this is a bad thing? Maybe it wasn't the brake pads at all and something else? Sorry I'm a car noob.

BTW the car is a 1994 Integra GSR. Stock suspension with drilled rotors that came with the car when I bought it.

 

Have you visually inspected your brakes?

Take off your wheels and look to see how thick your brake pads are. Depending on the wheel you may not even need to remove them to see both pads.

Sometimes when I would drive in the rain it would make my brakes squeak temporarily. Probably just rinsed away some of the anti squeal compound on the back of the pad. Nothing to worry about.

Closely inspect your drilled rotors for wear and defects. If they have seen better days it may be a good choice to upgrade to good blank rotor, a high performance pad, and a quality brake fluid.

 

you might have worn down the wear indicator on the pads. Does the car seem to have a lowe rthan normal brake pedal? Or does it seem to have a grabbing issue or even a slight grinding when you stop?
