I've been having this issue with my 90 gs, when i'm at about 1/4 tank the car will sputter/almost die when i'm at a stop. The car runs and drives fine, its just this issue when i'm low on fuel. If its above 1/4 tank the problem isn't there, it idles perfectly fine at stops.

The previous owner told me that the car's fuel guage is off and i need to refuel around 1/4 tank which doesn't make sense since i'm only at 187 miles since i filled it up. Anyone know what could be the problem?

 

undo the bung on your fuel tank and completely drain it. My car had problem at 1/8 fuel and when I completely drained the tank I found out that that 1/8 was water.

Other wise you may need new fuel pump.
