Fitting in B18C1 cylinder head, got a quick question
I had purchased a 94 B18C1 cylinder head off a local forum. I had the head rebuilt the other day, and the machenist said that the head had a tap with threads in the corner of the head. My only guess is that it for a prior ls vtec setup. My quick question is, can i leave it like that or do i have to plug it. I'm not doing an LS vtec conversion, the head is going on a B18c1 bottom end. Thanks

You are correct, That was done for a prior ls/vtec conversion. Just leave the plug out and it will be fine.

thanks, so if i leave the tap fitting open, will oil go into the wrong place. I mean what exactly is that for? I just wanna make sure, if i have to throw a plug in there, i will.
If you are using a vtec block (B16a/b B17 B18c/c1/c5) and you leave that plug open everything will flow the way it was designed to.
The reason that hole needs to be pluged for the ls/vtec is because Non-vtec block (b18a/b B20) does not have that passage in it.
Just leave the plug out of the head and everything will be fine

oh i see what your saying, so let me get this straight, the vtec head has the oil holes for oil flow, but when you want to go ls vtec, you can either weld that hole shut or tap it and put a plug in it to keep oil from coming out.

the other question is what about the dowel pins for the head. The head was used for a prior ls vtec setup and that means the dowel pin holes were enlarged correct? Well if i'm going back with a gsr head/gsr block setup, and the holes have already been enlarged, what do i use?

Apparently I do not but you dont got to be a dick. Like u dont make mistakes.
And to the OP the dowel holes dont necesarrily need to be enlarge they may have just used stepped dowel pins like the ones golden eagle makes.
